| What is a
Homemaking School?
Home with a Heart, originally taught
from Elaine Bond's home, has evolved into
Homemaking Schools with the help of The
Salvation Army. Mothers receive
instruction in a warm classroom setting
for 2 ½ to 3 hours each week for 12
weeks. Daily, in-home application of each
lesson is required by the mothers for the
remainder of the week. Mentoring is
provided throughout the 12 weeks. We want to help your church or ministry set up a
Homemaking School to reach out to single mothers in your area.
Is there a heavy workload required
to facilitate a Homemaking School?
No. Considerable
preparation has gone into the planning of resources and training to
make the program easy to implement. You can learn how to set up a
school with the well-developed Teacher Training Manual or attend a
Teacher Training Conference. See Training and Packages.
How does training take place?
Teacher training takes place upon request at Crossroads Communication Centre in Burlington, ON,
Canada. If you would like to facilitate a
training of 10 or more ministries in your
area, please Contact
Us.
Who can participate in the
Program?
Single mothers of all ages or other
women needing homemaking and/or employment
resources.
What happens when the participant
leaves the Homemaking School?
Upon completion of the program, the
participant will be networked with the
community for ongoing resources
specifically designed to meet the
participant's next step. Participants are
always welcome to contact the school for
further encouragement.
The
participant's involvement in the Home with
a Heart program may give her up to two
credits towards graduation. High School
principals and Adult Learning Centers are
recognizing the merit and outcomes of the
program. The teacher and the principal's
discretion determine decisions on
certification. Information is provided
with training.
